Recognition of opportunities is the initial stage in entrepreneurship, and the effective exploitation of those opportunities, strategic decision making, adaptability, and mobilization of resources is the basis for achieving sustainable growth. Opportunity recognition is the traditional belief of the foundation of entrepreneurial activity, but recent studies show that opportunity recognition alone does not lead to venture success. Entrepreneurs have to be able to assess opportunities, obtain resources, develop networks, adjust to the environment, and constantly innovate. This chapter explores the process of moving from opportunity recognition to venture growth from an integrated perspective. The chapter draws on Opportunity Recognition Theory, Social Capital Theory, Effectuation Theory and Dynamic Capabilities Theory to analyse how entrepreneurial networking, strategic decision making, adaptability, and opportunity exploitation can foster sustainable business growth. The chapter presents a conceptual model that integrates entrepreneurial capabilities, environmental and institutional factors and their influence on the performance of the venture. Moreover, the role of entrepreneurial ecosystem and support system in supporting venture growth is discussed. The chapter's unique value lies in the detailed framework that it presents and explains how opportunities become translated into sustainable entrepreneurial outcomes.
